Like just about everyone else, I've been a computer user all my life. I recently made the transition from PC to Mac, and loved every second of it. I took a Microsoft Office skills class while in high school and took quite a bit away from it. From TI graphing calculators in math, to PS3's at home, technology is a huge, unavoidable, part of all of our lives, and I'm no exception.
I'm hoping that through this class I'll be able to fine tune the skills that I've already aqcuired with the Microsoft Office suite. It's easy to write a paper with word, or to give a presentation with the help of powerpoint, but I want to be able to snaz up everything, make my work more appealing to the eye and be able to better visually demonstrate whatever goal I'm working towards. I'm hoping I can do that with the help of this class.
Like I said in class, I'm a military brat and I love it because of everything that it's allowed me to see and do. I grew up in Heidelberg and Hanau, Germany and can safely say that I've seen just about every inch of Europe - minus a country or two though I suppose. My family is still stationed overseas which is awesome because it means that I get to spend every Christmas and Summer back in Europe. It's an awesome life! Other than that, I was a music therapy major last year with guitar as my principle instrument, but decided to change to English Education. I really don't care for classical music and figured that the College of Music wasn't the place for me to foster my growth as a player. I love playing guitar, but not as a classical player, as the music department insisted I did. My favorite musician/guitar player is John Mayer - sounds corny I guess, but the guy can play like you wouldn't believe. Living overseas for so long I missed out on a lot of concert opportunities, but I got to see him live for the first time in Tampa on August 7th... hands down one of the coolest nights of my life! So yep, I guess that's more or less me in a nutshell.
